N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25: Fully Automatic NERF Cannon – Boing Boing Gadgets

This is both scary and cool. I want one and I’m ashamed I (apparently) have so much pent up foam aggression.

BabyPlays Toy Rental Program

As a parent of a young toddler, I find it amazing how fast we crank through toys. It seems like as soon as we take it out of the box, she’s already developed past that stage. This site brings the Netflix model (of sorts) to baby toys. Pretty slick. Of course, as a first time parent, I have a hard time with toys that aren’t brand new, never been cleaned, and (theoritically) germ free. I’m a new parent, what can I say?

Made to Stick by Chip Heath and Dan Heath – Buy chapters

Cool idea, sell chapters of a book, rather than the full business book. For certain types of business book, I think this could be a fantastic idea. With so, so many business book created every year, does this help the industry? If we consumer readers are prone to buy chapter at a time, might we see an industry switch where fewer full books are written and more individual “mini-books” are created instead?

  • Thank you for your feedback regarding the BabyPlays Toy Rental Program. I wanted to respond. I am the mother of 15 month old twins. Sanitary toys and a sanitary environment for my family is so important to me. When I developed the concept for BabyPlays, I made cleanliness the primary concern. My own children get their toys from the same stock as all other members of the program. We sterilize each toy that comes in even if it is brand new, then shrink wrap the toy so that it does not even have a chance to make contact with the slightest amount of dust. Many of us parents don't think twice about giving a child a toy straight off the toy shelf of their local toy store. But those toys have been handled by workers overseas, shelf stockers then the check out worker in addition to all the customers in the store that passed by and touched it before we purchase it. When I look at what we do to make sure a toy is sanitized, I realize that we probably have some of the cleanest toys in America. I welcome your questions. Thank you.
