10 bucks says that all of the top photography brands will have dedicated community programs for their consumers in the next few years, and not just ones that cater to the experts. Why do I think this? Because it's what consumers want - just look at how many have organically been created by consumers to offset the lack of brand participation.

Generally I think you're absolutely right - it's a flip of the coin. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Be careful when you choose, however, because you're locking yourself into a type of lens (Canon or Nikon, they don't work interchangeably).

Personally, from what I've seen (and posted about here) Nikon is doing a better job at the mid-level... people like me who aren't interested in pro photography, but are interested in spending some decent money on this hobby of mine.

And from a purely emotional standpoint, I also think that Nikon has done a radically better job engaging their customers (current and potential) to improve the relationship, listen to their needs, and provide inspiration to make great photos. That means something to me and I believe it should be rewarded.

Let me know which way you go!

I'm looking to purchase a DLSR as I'm thinking of becoming a wedding photographer. Having looked through the various Canon V's Nikon debates which in essence suggest I should 'flip a coin', I'm in the same position as I was before I read the reviews. Do you have any pointers which may help make my decision?
