Creating my own words
I’d like to propose a word:
eKnow: To know someone through online interaction only, often having never met the person physically, but feeling a close relationship to that person.
For instance:
"Do you eKnow Mr. Smith? I’d love to have you introduce us via email."
As we move forward socially as a society, I think this will be a more and more significant interaction. People we’re close to may not be in our physical presence.

As much as I loathe neologisms that start with “e[uppercase letter]” I do have to admit that this phenomenon desperately needs a name. I suppose eKnow could fit the bill…there are certainly people that I’ve eKnown for years that I consider good friends!
By the way–since I haven’t mentioned this in any of the other 10,000 places that your departure has been noted–thanks for the hard work you did on behalf of the AFOL community. I think the coolest part was the fact that some of the people who must have exasperated you the most in the past sincerely thanked you for all you have done.
Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

I’m very glad to eKnow you, Jake!
