Medtronic, the world's largest medical technology company is seeking a highly motivated and talented social media specialist to join its team.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for social media marketing and have a track record demonstrating initiative and drive. As an important member of the Medtronic Global eMarketing team, you will work directly with business units and geographies as well as other analysts to deliver strategies and solutions to unique business problems by leveraging your marketing and technical background, and expanding your business and marketing skills.
We are seeking a candidate that is actively participating in a wide variety of social media activities such as blogging, community development and management, social bookmarking, commenting, etc. and is well-connected with the broader social media world. The candidate must be able to think strategically, but be willing and able to roll up their sleeves to help implement the programs.
The successful candidate will be an extroverted, energetic, intelligent, passionate, entrepreneurial, strategic, creative and collaborative leader and hands-on doer.
•Lead the development of a comprehensive, global social media strategy in partnership with business divisions to increase visibility, membership and advocacy for Medtronic
•Promote high-performance networking solutions/product launches with social media relations strategies and recommendations for web team and agency execution
•Consult with cross-functional teams who are seeking ways to integrate social media within their programs; provide guidance, expert advice and a strategy that fits within Medtronic’s overall marketing / communications strategy.
•Monitor and track social media activities by competitors, assess implications and trends, and integrate learnings into overall social media strategy.
•Provide innovative guidance on with new and alternative ways to leverage social media activities (e.g.“marketing R&D”)
•Monitor trends in social media tools, trends and applications and appropriately apply that knowledge to increasing the use of social media at Medtronic.
•Strategize with and educate the management team and others across the company on incorporating relevant social media techniques into the corporate culture and into all of the company’s products and services.
•Measure the impact of social media on the overall marketing efforts.
REQUIRED SKILL SETS:
•10+ years web/online marketing and/or Agency experience, with 3 years developing and directing online community and communications initiatives; experience on either client and agency sides a plus
•Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or a related field; MBA preferred
•Experience with social media including blogging, blogger relations, podcasting or other means of evangelizing on behalf of a large enterprise
•Expertise and in-depth knowledge of social media channels including but not limited to 1) Communication channels (e.g., blogs, internet forums, micro-blogging (twitter), social networking sites (e.g., Facebook, MySpace), event sites (e.g., Meetups)), 2) Collaboration Channels (e.g., Wikis, Digg, epinions), and 3) Multimedia / Sharing Channels (e.g., Flickr, YouTube).
•Development and integration experience in social media relations with traditional public relations outreach communications programs
•Experience leading cross-functional teams in achieving a unified goal
